Last week, Pacific County saw a major increase in positive COVID cases. 35 cases were reported to Pacific County Health and Human Services bringing the case count from 120 to 155. There are currently 33 active cases being monitored by public health nurses. All cases are confirmed and isolating at home. Case investigations and contact tracing are on-going.
One case is a male, 0-10 years old, linked to a holiday party. Three other cases are males, 0-10 years old, are linked to household positive cases.
Another case is male, 10-20 years old, which is linked to a holiday party. Three other cases are males, 10-20 years old, linked to household cases. Two cases are female, 10-20 years old, linked to household cases.
Another case is a female, 20-30 years old, linked to a household positive case.
Three cases are male, 30-40 years old, linked to household positives cases. Ten cases are females, 30-40 years old, linked to workplace exposure. Another three cases are females, 30-40 years old, linked to out-of-county visitors. Two cases are females, 30-40 years old, linked to out-of-county travel.
One case is a male, between 40-50 years old, with unknown exposure. Two cases are males, 40-50 years old, linked to work exposure. Another case is male, 40-50 years old, linked to out-of-county travel. Another case is male, 40-50 years old, from social interaction. Another case is female, 40-50 years old, from unknown exposure. Three cases are females, 40-50 years old, from workplace exposure.
Another case is a male, between 50-60 years old, linked to a household positive case. Two cases were female, 50-60 years old, linked to work exposure.
One case is male, 60-70 years old, whose exposure is undetermined at this time. Two cases are females, 60-70 years old. One individual's exposure is undetermined at this time. The other is linked to out-of-county travel.
Another case is male, 70-80 years old, linked to out-of-county travel. The last reported case is female, 70-80 years old, linked to social interaction.
A significant number of positive cases last week have resulted from a congregate work facility. Pacific County Public Health and Human Services is working with the facility to ensure the testing of employees and compliance with required safety practices.
Pacific County Health and Human Services strongly encourages the public to limit non-essential travel, maintain social distancing of at least six feet between persons, and practice personal protective measures to include: correctly wearing a mask/face covering in public, washing hands often with soapy water for at least 20 seconds, and avoid touching your face.
