Gov. Jay Inslee announced his climate proposals for the 2022 legislative session, which will bolster Washington's leadership in clean energy and economic growth. The action took place Monday morning.

The governor put forward a $626 million investment in a climate strategy that will:

Decarbonize the building sector

Successfully implement the Climate Commitment Act

Invest more in clean transportation.

Build the clean energy future in Washington.

Santa coming for breakfast at the Cowlitz Grange

The Toledo Cowlitz Prairie Grange was opened almost 100 years ago and has been serving the community ever since. The Washington State Granges were chartered in 1889, two months before Washington became a territory. Many granges are no longer operational in our area, only Hope Grange and Cowlitz Prairie are still going strong. Hope Grange is located in Winlock and the Cowlitz Prairie Grange is located just north of Toledo on Jackson Highway.

Senior centers soft opening in south Lewis County

The time is finally here, the Lewis County Senior Centers are having soft openings and they are inviting the communities in. Since the first COVID lockdown, the senior centers have been closed for the safety of the senior citizens. During the almost two years, there have been several variants, Delta hitting this Summer and being the most deadly.

Carol Brock, Vice Chair of the Lewis County Senior Board and the Board have been busy sanitizing, repairing and getting the centers open for all to enjoy. They had to perform a lot of work, Carol stated, "As you may know earlier this year the county suggested we do a complete evaluation of the condition of our centers and the recommendations of that report to re-open as safe as possible.

Local schools rewarded for honoring Veterans Day

Each year the local school districts honor Veterans Day and this year the local veterans gave back to the schools.

Raymond, South Bend, and Willapa Valley hold assemblies and usually a lunch near Veterans Day to honor the men and women who served our country.

PCEMA asks for public comment on revised Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Pacific County Emergency Management Agency is asking for public comments and reviews on the new Pacific County Hazard Mitigation Plan. The comment period lasts until December 22, 2021.

Two Rivers Emergency Management Planner Tony Gertz has joined with PCEMA to write the newest plan. He has been writing these types of plans for the past 10 years. This newest plan is intended to last for the next 5 years.
