Gary Stamper will be missed

Lewis County Commissioner Gary Stamper passed away last week in a Vancouver Hospital. Gary was a great person with a love for his family, his country, friends and animals. Gary lived life to the fullest, always making everything an adventure. When Gary called you he immediately started with, "How are you?" or "How are you my friend?" I don't think Gary ever met a stranger. Working with Gary these past few years has been fun, the world was a better place by Gary being in it. He will be missed by many of us!

Cities in South Lewis County are starting to stop the mandates by Governor Jay Inslee, Winlock passed a Proclamation and now Napavine has signed Resolution NO.21.09.120. The resolution is stated below:

WHEREAS, on February 29, 2020, Governor Inslee issued Emergency ProclamationNo. 20-05 declaring a state of emergency due to the outbreak of COVID-19; and

Compelling races loom; but too many are unchallenged

SOUTH BEND - There are several significant races in north Pacific County in the 2021 General Election. Throughout the entire county, there are 77 candidates running for a total of 64 offices. The election is Tuesday, November 2. Ballots will be mailed from the auditor's office to the post offices today.

Local Girl Scout Troop provides COVID relief through food drive

The pandemic is stretching on and food insecurity is growing greater in Pacific County. One group of local girls have responded to this call. Girl Scout Troop 41175, which serves the communities of Raymond and South Bend, is running a COVID Relief Food Drive to support the North Pacific County Food Bank in October.

"We are a volunteer-run nonprofit organization working with girls from kindergarten to 4th grade," said Troop Leader Kandice Caldwell. "Girl Scouts has been around for over 100 years and has more than 2.7 million members and our troop joined the ranks in early 2021."
