Inslee: State facing urgent crises

Through Sunday, another 549 coronavirus cases and no new deaths were confirmed in Washington, bringing the total number of diagnoses to 63,072, including 1,688 deaths, according to the state DOH. Data reporting issues have prevented the state from recording new negative tests results for more than a week now. The U.S. has officially recorded more than 162,000 deaths and 5 million cases of COVID-19, just 17 days after reaching 4 million cases, but experts agree the number of cases is actually much greater - potentially 10 times higher than what's been reported, according to federal data.

Last Friday, Gov. Inslee said, "We are facing an urgent economic and public health crisis that demands immediate congressional action and leadership from the Trump administration. Millions of Americans are unable to work, put food on the table and pay their bills.

The Primaries are over, onto the Presidential Election

Washington State held it's 2020 Primary this past week, many were surprised by the outcomes, some were not. In Lewis County, the voters turned out at almost 60%, this is comparable to general election numbers.

In the bid for Governor, the final two in the general election will be Governor Jay Inslee and newcomer, Loren Culp. Culp is the Chief of Police in Republic, Washington. He is known as the "Law and Order" Candidate. This is Inslee's third time running for governor.

Many other state positions are up for grabs, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, Treasurer, Auditor, Commissioner of Public Lands, Superintendent of Public Instructions. The only Republican in the lead is Kim Wyman, Secretary of State, the remaining positions in the lead are all held by Democrats.

Additional Positive COVID-19 Cases in Pacific County

On Monday, August 3, Pacific County Health and Human Services received notice of three positive cases of COVID-19 in Pacific County. These positive cases are in addition to the 40 previously reported cases for a total of 43 cases. All three of these cases are identified as close contacts of previously disclosed positive cases. All are south county residents between 60-79 years old and isolating at home.

On Wednesday, August 5, five more positive cases were announced. These positive cases are in addition to the 43 previously reported cases for a total of 48 cases. These cases are 40+ years old. All six of these cases were discovered in the south county area. Two of these cases will not count towards Pacific County since they are residents of a different county.

SOUTH BEND - Now just might be the best time to adopt a cat from HAVA, the Harbor Association of Volunteers for Animals, which currently has several adorable felines for your taking.

HAVA is an all-volunteer group that serves the animals of the Twin Harbors region of Washington. The area covered roughly ranges from Westport (where it was founded) in the north to Bay Center in the south. It also encompasses portions of Grays Harbor and Pacific counties. After a down period, HAVA was reformed and is based in Raymond with volunteers in Raymond, South Bend, Menlo, Westport, Grayland, Tokeland, Bay Center and other communities.
