The Toledo Fire Department (TFD) is once again on the cutting edge of helping its citizens. Recently through a grant, TFD was able to purchase a ResQmax water rescue line launcher.
The hot topic at the Raymond City Council meeting on Monday, August 19 turned out to be a proposed Thai restaurant that is looking to start-up business at the community center location. The spot previously held Liang's restaurant before it turned into a community center operated by Alliance for a Better Community.
Poised to make an investment
Within the proposal submitted to the city and council, hopeful business owners, the Keophommavong's, stated they have a $20,000 investment backing them. They asked the city to invest $5,600 in kitchen equipment and pay an additional cost for tables and chairs. Mayor Tony Nordin believed that the city may have had leftover grant money that could be used to cover the investment cost.
Lines as far as the eye could see was the theme along US 101 in South Bend on Sunday, September 1. Thousands of spectators took to the sidewalks for the annual Labor Day Parade that celebrated the City of South Bend's 150th Anniversary.
