Town Crier's Yard of the Week: A yard of practicality

This week's yard of the week belongs to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. It may not be the most beautiful yard, but it may be the most lovely and caring. The parishioners of St. Paul's Lutheran Church donate their time, efforts, and seeds to grow this garden. Nearly 100 pounds of fresh produce has been harvested and donated from St. Paul's garden to the Winlock Vader Food Bank. They donated 70 pounds of produce last week.

The practical nature of St. Paul's church project is a wonderful gift to the members of the community. Sue Lindeman started the project in 2013 a year after retiring. She and her husband spearheaded the project with the enthusiastic help of members from St. Paul. Even some of the children meet at the Church on Wednesday mornings to help harvest the vegetables that will be donated to the food bank on the same day.

The problem: neutral normally means wild in meteorologist lingo.

The abnormal year thus far

The El Nino pattern that developed late in 2018 has become one of the weakest in recent memory for the Pacific Northwest according to Pacific County Emergency Management Agency Director Scott McDougall and several meteorologists. El Nino typically means warmer-than-normal temperatures over the winter months along with dryer conditions.
