Mr. T Contest held at Toledo HS

Toledo High School's 9th annual Mr. T Pageant was held Thursday, March 7 in the school commons. The Mr. T Pageant is hosted by Horst Malunat and Ron Gaul, both teachers at Toledo.

The event features a small group of Toledo senior boys competing in activities, such as fashion and talent shows, to be crowned Mr. T. The boys are judged by Mr. Huffman (dubbed the Boss), Mr. Corrigan (Mr.T founder), Mrs. Gale (the Shrink), and Ms. Welch (the Talent Scout). Each senior has a hostess to help choreograph and dress them.

Winlock finances: not a snapshot of financial well being

The City of Winlock is in the first two months of the 2019 budget and there are concerns that need to be raised. The city has several different funds; for example; street, water and sewer, general, bridge and a few others. This article concentrates on the main funds that the city uses for daily operations.

It didn't take long; fire season again

Not even halfway through the first day of 2019 that saw temperatures reach above 70 degrees and local fire departments have responded to a brush fire. The incident unfolded in the afternoon on Monday, March 18 when a small fire managed to spread to nearby brush in Menlo.

Local picnic area gets new life after the 2007 storm closure

The wind storm of 2007 is still a sour taste with many residents who vividly remember the carnage that was unleashed on western Washington. The coast took the brunt of the storm that brought hurricane-force winds that tore through Pacific County. The power was out for most of the area for well over a week. Hundreds of thousands of trees were torn down all over the county. Roadways were littered with the fallen trees and main roads were impassable. The destruction was like nothing anyone had ever seen before.

Preparations for the 2019 Pacific County Fair are in full swing

Spring has finally arrived with flowers beginning to show and warmer weather welcomed to the area with open arms. As the days get longer and temperatures begin to rise it's also the start to the busy season for much of the area. For Pacific County Fair Manager Bill Monohon the few months rest over the winter months has been quickly followed by a full throttle ahead to preparations for this year's fair.
