Indians keep their heads up in a 6-12 loss to the Monarchs

After a Friday filled with early morning snow and mid-morning tow trucks, the Toledo Indians played seven innings against the Mark Morris Monarchs on a beautiful, but cold, sunny day. Like many season openers, both teams walked too many batters and made a few errors.

Prosecutor finds position illegal, Mayor vowed to defend in court

On Tuesday, March 5, the Board of County Commissioners met with Lewis County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer to discuss the recent Whistleblower case and the illegal appointment of councilwoman Jodie Curtis.

Prosecutor Meyer stated that training is being arranged for Winlock City Council members for the Open Public Meeting Act (OPMA). During most of the city council meetings, council members have failed to deliberate on several important issues. This is a clear violation of OPMA, but is this a council training issue or a requirement of the mayor?

New RV park in Raymond moving ahead

Raymond is one step closer to having a new RV park located near downtown. The city council gave the go ahead for the city to issue a conditional use permit during the first council meeting of the month on Monday, March 4.

Wllapa Hills Trail deteriorating fast

The Willapa Hills Trail has been a topic of contention for locals over the past several years. Many are pushing for sections inside Pacific County to be repaired and restored to pristine shape. Each year hundreds of families, bicyclists, walkers, horse riders and others take to the trail to enjoy the summer weather. Unfortunately, several portions are becoming worse with each passing year and now a few sections have become dangerous.
