Mediation of police contract between Toledo and Winlock

Toledo Mayor Steve Dobosh and Winlock Mayor Don Bradshaw met to mediate the police contract between the two cities and were able to come to an amicable agreement. The Winlock City Council approved the transition period on June 11, 2018, and the Toledo City Council approved it on June 18.

The Raymond City Council discussed the hot-button-topic regarding the choice to turn the theatre apartments into an Airbnb along with discussing a couple ordinances during the June 18 council meeting.

South bend abandons 5% tax hike, proposes 2%

The City of South Bend has dropped the proposed Utility Rate Excise Tax to 2% amounting to roughly $4 per month according to South Bend City Treasurer Dee Roberts. The new rate would extend to 3 years instead of the 5% for 2 years.

The previous tax proposal would have raised the Utility Rate Excise Tax 5% for 2 years costing a household approximately $120 per year.

Last week a large barge with a crane moved down the Willapa River. The Port is leasing the South Fork pier to the Manson Construction Company. They have been awarded a $19 million contract by the US Army Corps of Engineers to repair the sand berm protecting the Shoalwater Bay Tribal properties in Tokeland. The project will begin this month and probably extend in to September. They will be using the pier to stage equipment for the project.
