Dear Savvy Senior,
What resources can you recommend to help older job seekers? I'm 60 and have been out of work for nearly a year now and need some help.

"It shall be the duty of all teachers to endeavor to impress on the minds of their pupils the principles of morality, truth, justice, temperance, humanity and patriotism; to teach them to avoid idleness, profanity and falsehood; to instruct them in the principles of free government, and to train them up to the true comprehension of the rights, duty and dignity of American citizenship."-- RCW 28A.405.030
I don't know about you, but that quote makes me smile. I believe a large part of a public education is helping students be good citizens. To me, principles like morality, truth, justice, etc. are not just qualities we expect in Superman; they are what we as Americans try to live up to.
On Saturday, March 17, 2018, the Neumann family lost their beautiful home in Toledo to a fire. At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Saturday evening, a member of the Toledo Fire Department saw smoke coming from the property. He decided to drive down the driveway because burning was not allowed but to his surprise the house was engulfed in flames. He alerted the Toledo Fire Department and they were quick to respond but the fire had already consumed the home and it was a total loss. Ron Neumann, his wife Dawn, their two children and two grandchildren resided in the home but no one was there at the time of the fire. They lost their family dog and several cats in the fire.

The City of Raymond Public Works Department is near completion of repairing and backfilling where a wastewater line broke at the Riverfront Park next to the Northwest Carriage Museum. Many residents had suspicion the city was placing a new addition to the park such as a pond or fountain. "It would be pretty nice to have one," Raymond Public Works Director Eric Weiberg said. "Unfortunately, the city has a lot of other projects that I think funding would be a higher priority towards."
