Another illegal marijuana grow busted

On Thursday, Dec. 28, Lewis County Sheriff's Deputies office served a warrant at 121 Nelson Road in Winlock. The Sheriff's office obtained information about this illegal grow from a recent marijuana bust in Vader.

Fundraiser for baby to be born with half a heart

There is a fundraiser being held at Toledo High School on Jan. 14 at 12:30 p.m. for baby Titus Sickles, about to be born in January. It will be a live auction featuring such items as a Great Wolf overnight package, 8 hours of handyman services along with other auction items. They will also have a Taco Soup feed while the auction is going on.

Winlock's new mayor sworn into office

The final meeting of the year for Winlock City Council was held Dec. 26 at 6:30 p.m. During the meeting several things occurred such as service awards and swearing in of the new mayor.

Sally Vogel, Chairman of the Winlock Park Board, was given the award for Volunteer of the Year which is voted on by the Winlock City Council. Other awards by a private citizen were given to outgoing city council members and mayor just before the meeting was adjourned and before the new mayor and council member were sworn in.

At the beginning of the meeting, two council members resigned leaving two vacancies. Applications for city council will be available after Jan. 2 until Feb. 1 at the City Hall.

Eagle Scout organizes benefit concert

There will be a concert held at the Raymond High School gymnasium to raise money for local food banks on Jan. 13. All the proceeds from ticket sales and concessions will be going towards the food banks in both Raymond and South Bend.

Thriftway struck by vehicle again

On Dec. 28 at approximately 3:36 p.m. Raymond Police and Raymond Fire were dispatched to a call that a car had struck the Raymond Thriftway store and it was unknown if the driver or anyone in the vehicle had injuries.
