Napavine mayor accused of misuse of public employees

City also looking to potentially terminate legal counsel

The City of Napavine is suffering from an assortment of complex problems that the Napavine City Council hasn't been able to correct. The issues surrounding our little city on the hill range from allegations of fraud by a city official, to an uncooperative and defiant city attorney who refuses to go away.

This story begins with several city employees who wish to remain anonymous who reached out to the Town Crier with an allegation. The anonymous sources allege that they witnessed Mayor John Sayers use city personnel to work on his personal vehicle. While it is illegal for Mayor Sayers to require city employees to work on his personal vehicle, the seriousness of the allegation is compounded by the possibility it was done on city time, with city equipment. The Town Crier made inquires to Mayor Sayers regarding the allegations and he did not deny them.

Napavine sweeps Rainier

The Napavine Tigers Softball team came out focused and aggressive for their doubleheader Saturday against the Mountaineers from Rainier. Napavine is 7-3 in league and hoping to catch up with Adna in the standings and move into third place. Meanwhile, Onalaska is directly behind them and also hoping to climb in the standings, so the Tigers are well aware that they cannot allow a let down of focus to creep in.

Ryderwood to hold town-wide garage sales

The weekend of April 28 - 29 marks Ryderwood's Spring Town-Wide Garage Sales. Held twice yearly on the last weekends of April and August, it's an event for which the town has become a bit famous.

Homeowners throughout town set up business in the alleys behind their homes in hopes that some of the items they no longer need will end up finding new homes. Maps of known sale locations will be available at the Cafe.

The Women's Club will hold their Super Sale at Pioneer Hall. They have quite a selection this year. Lunch (Polish dogs and chili with all the trimmings) will be served in Community Hall.

Ryderwood is located at the end of SR 506 at I-5 Exit 59. More information is available at ryderwood.org.
