On Thursday, Dec. 15, Joan and Al Waters, owners of the beautiful Aberdeen Mansion, invited the public into their home as part a series of holiday tours. The house was first built in 1905 by Edward Hulbert and changed owners several times over the last century. In 2014 was added to the Aberdeen Historic Register.

The Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Aberdeen has recently set up space for the floating homeless encampment for the second time. The camp was moved to the church's property on Saturday, Dec. 17.

A six-month-long leadership development course for up-and-comers within the local business and professional communities begins Jan. 4.

Sable Pirtle is the new intern for the Town Crier. Sable is a junior at Winlock High School and is interested in becoming an author. She said her goal in being an intern is to sharpen her skills.

DeSarno's Treasures has just had their six-month anniversary. They opened on Egg Day weekend at 204 NE First St. DeSarno's is owned by Desiree Bowers, a 1988 graduate of Winlock High School, and Arno Chapman of Chehalis. Desiree Bowers is the daughter of Gary and Joanne Parkison of Winlock, a family that has been here for over half a century and who have contributed to the community in many ways.

The City of Napavine had quite the shake up on Tuesday, Dec. 20, with two City Council members resigning their positions. The move also affects the City of Winlock, which utilizes Napavine for its permitting process.

On Sunday, Dec. 18, the Travel Channel was in Winlock to film an upcoming episode about an RV road show.

Situated just a block and a half off of Highway 101 in South Bend sits a quaint little house with a fenced-in yard. Just outside that fence sits a small replica boat with an amazing paint job. The mailbox at this particular residence, like the replica boat it sits next to, also has a phenomenal paint job that adorns it. Both were applied by one of the home's inhabitants, Daniel (Dan) Fossatti, who lives there with his girlfriend, Christine Balcom, and their bevy of foster dogs. Together they all make up Tractor Beam Graphics.

HAVA is hoping to raise $5,000 with a fundraiser by the end of the year to help needy pets.

Derik S. Nissell, a local resident who graduated from South Bend High School, was in his mid-twenties when his untimely death on February 29, 2016, sent a shockwave throughout the community of South Bend.

The South Bend School District is looking to establish a facilities committee to be made up of community and staff members, as well as other local stakeholders. The committee will work to determine the direction and prioritization of any future upgrades to district buildings.

Imagine for a moment that you are going about your daily business inside your home when all of a sudden you hear a high-pitched melody coming from outside.
