Aberdeen's first ever Winterfest event is scheduled to be held Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3.

A Montesano-area family who went missing last week has been found safe.

The Lake Quinault Lodge will be holding a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 24 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., with special activities for the kids starting at 10 a.m. Admission for adults is $39, $33 for seniors, and $16 for kids aged 12 and under.

Republican Jimi O'Hagan, who recently lost out in the general election to incumbent Democrat Brian Blake for a 19th District House seat, has been charged with two felonies by the the Lewis County Prosecutor's Office.

Friday, Dec. 2
5:30 p.m. -- Tree lighting ceremony at Zelasko Park. Caroling by Harbor City Church Choir and AHS Goldenaires. F Street between Wishkah and Heron streets will be blocked off for the brief ceremony. Santa will appear by vintage firetruck. There will be hot cocoa and cookies available.
Most downtown businesses will offer drawings for customers. Participating businesses will display Winterfest placards.
Some Aberdeen restaurants, including Breakwater, Billy's, Amore, Ocean Palace, Pizza Hut, Duffy's, Rediviva, and Cortese's will offer discounts or specials to customers wearing Winterfest bracelets.

Saturday, Dec. 3
9 a.m. -- Santa will appear at the D and R on Heron and I streets. Breakfast sponsored by the Windermere Foundation and prepared by the Aberdeen Lions Club will be on offer. Children through sixth grade can eat free. Photos with Santa will cost $10 with money going to a Grays Harbor Community Hospital Auxiliary charity project. Santa will be available for photos from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Also at the D and R, Home Depot will provide a craft workshop, and children can write and mail letters to Santa.

An ugly sweater contest will be held online. Contestants can post photos to the Winterfest Facebook page. Judging will take place online.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office is preparing for a favorite annual tradition - Shop with a Cop, in partnership with Chehalis Walmart. This holiday season marks the 15th year of this fun-filled evening for the agency, and children from Lewis County.

A fire destroyed the residence behind a storage facility located at the corner of N. Jackson Hwy and Hwy 505 on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Every year our local schools celebrate Grandparents Day, and this year was no exception. Winlock Miller Elementary School held their special Grandparents Day lunch on Thursday, Nov. 17, and it was definitely a packed house. Grandparents and adopted grandparents were at the grade school for lunch. Turkey and all the trimmings were served, and a photographer was there to capture the special time together.

Science Night at Winlock Elementary School was quite a success. Parents were on hand to show the students different science projects. Tommy Thompson of Winlock taught students how to make "lava lamps," while Brandon Brown made kazoos.

Attendees from throughout the region gathered together at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores on Nov. 18 and 19 for the fourth annual Sasquatch Summit to discuss the latest research, findings, and theories in relation to the elusive creature.

The November 8, 2016 General Election votes of Pacific County have been counted. Out of 14,097 registered voters in Pacific County, the voter turnout was 78.88%. The votes will be recounted and the final results will be available on Nov. 29.

Long Beach - Authorities alledge a local women and her boyfriend are responsible for the murder of the women's grandmother and also had plans to murder the women's father. The plot came to light after a kidnapping report proved false, authorities say.

The Raymond City Council met on Monday, Nov. 21 for a city council meeting. There were several members of the council body absent but the council still had enough members to make a quorum. There were no members of the public present at the meeting. The first item that the council dealt with was a public hearing for the Raymond Water System Comprehensive Plan Update. Mayor Jason Dunsmoor opened the public hearing up, and Public Works Director Eric Weiberg added that this was a standard procedure that the Washington State Department of Health requires the council to do.
