On August 24 the Pacific County Guns and Hoses Committee distributed $2,000 to local school programs for students in need. The funds were raised at the Inaugural Pacific County Guns and Hoses Tournament held last April.

SOUTH BEND - South Bend opens the season Thursday with a home match versus Wahkiakum - a match that should provide good competition and excitement. Willapa Valley hosts rival Pe Ell tomorrow. Raymond's season opener is Monday against Willapa Valley at Tenoski Gym in Menlo.
Host Rainier overpowered South Bend 58-20 Friday night in the season opener for both grid teams. The Mountaineers out-rushed South Bend 401 to 137. Rainier passed for 96 yards compared to 45 for SBHS.
With the start of the new school year the Seagull athletes are back in action. The first Raymond football game hosted Life Christian Academy and skirted past them 26-25.
Pe Ell-Willapa Valley crushed undermanned Winlock 50-0 in the Central League opener for both teams Friday night at Winlock. Kaelin Jurek streaked for three touchdowns, scored a safety, rushed for 107 yards, and the Titans' starters seemed to score at will.
The Willapa Harbor Chorale begins rehearsals Monday, September 14 in preparation for their annual Christmas concert. The regular two-hour rehearsals begin at 7 pm. in the Raymond High School band room. All singers are welcome.

At the early September Public Utility District Commissioners meeting the discussion was about the October rate increase that is being passed down from the Bonneville Power Administration.
During the managers report, PUD manager Doug Miller let the commissioners know that a rate increase will be impacting customers starting October 1, 2015.
