The South Bend City Council meeting was quick to dispense with the normal agenda but brought out some very valid points during council comments.

During the initial approval of previous minutes and consent agenda paying out over $64,000 one item stood out as the final $14,000 payment the city had to make in restitution for the fraud of Trisha Belcher in 2013.

FOUR PACIFIC COUNTY SALMON RESTORATION PROJECTS RECEIVES $4,157,000 IN NEW WASHINGTON COASTAL RESTORATION INITIATIVE FUNDING

Washington Coast Restoration Initiative will fund projects that benefit jobs, communities and natural resources

The Washington State Legislature awarded $11.185 million from the Capital Budget for a suite of habitat protection and restoration projects along the entire Washington Coast, including the Quinault Indian Nation, as well as Pacific, Grays Harbor, Clallam, Wahkiakum, Jefferson, Thurston, Lewis, and Mason counties. The Washington Coast Restoration Initiative (WCRI) will bring sustainable, family-wage jobs to dozens of small, rural communities from Neah Bay to the mouth of the Columbia.

PUD experiencing shortfall in revenue

The Pacific County PUD met Tuesday, August 18 for a regular bi-monthly meeting. The meeting was facilitated in the Peninsula Operating Center in Long Beach, and the board of commissioners had a full compliment. The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance, and the board approved the minutes of the previous meeting. For the manager's report, General Manager Doug Miller introduced some reports that were selected from the Washington State Auditor's office accountability and financial statement auditor reports that were for the commissioners' to compare for a financial update later in the meeting. "Thanks to the accounting department for compiling the data and distributing this report," said Miller.

Raymond Police Department's K9 Deko has been awarded a ballistic vest thanks to non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., the vest was sponsored by a fund raiser hosted by University Place resident Brandie Hassing. K9 Deko's vest will be embroidered with the sentiment "Stay safe out there - Love the Hassing Family".

Two Arrested For Vandalism

Lebam - On August 18, the Pacific County Sheriff's Office received a call of an extensive vandalism of a dump truck located in a heavily wooded area off of the Trap Creek Main Line. The reporting party advised that the truck was demolished. Deputies responded to the scene to investigate.
