With little fanfare the latest recreational marijuana store has opened in Raymond and is the first retail operation for Pacific County. Mr. Doobees spent the weekend getting ready for the non-advertised opening, and greeted their first customers just after noon on Monday, Nov. 3.
Clam diggers can return to coastal beaches starting Tuesday, Nov. 4, to dig razor clams during the first of two planned openings in November.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the latest round of evening digs after marine toxin test results showed the clams are safe to eat. Digging is not allowed on any beach before noon.
Remember the rhyme of the Ancient Mariner: "Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink?"
Even though water covers 70 percent of the Earth's surface, less than two percent is freshwater. Therein lies the problem. As the world's population grows, demand for water is increasing; in periods of drought it becomes a crisis.
We all have watched and read accounts of the world events in the past few months: IRS, Bengasi, Obamacare, veteran's poor health care service, immigration, Iran, Iraq, Middle East Conflict, ISIS, Ebola... none of these issues were well managed by our government. For sure we have been misled, lied to, and been fooled by government happy talk. Common sense is missing at to many levels in government. The vast majority of people now believe, "our country is going to hell in a hand-basket." There is no trust.
Napavine defeated South Bend in five games, 25-23, 18-25, 16-25, 25-18, 15-8, in an opening round match at the District IV Volleyball Tournament Saturday at Lacey.
Raymond stayed alive at the District IV Volleyball Tournament by defeating Rainier in four games in a loser-out match Saturday at Toutle Lake.
Willapa Valley lost two games at the District IV Volleyball Tournament and was eliminated from further competition.
Every month the Raymond Elementary School focuses on a character trait, October's being responsibility. So the students practiced responsibility throughout the month and at the end of the month the teacher selects a student to get treated to a pizza party with the principal, Mr. Cady.
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission announces the final free day of 2014 is November 11 in honor of Veterans Day. Visitors will not be required to display the Discover Pass to visit a state park.
