LEBAM - Kimmi Coburn, daughter of Steve and Becky Coburn of Lebam, is recovering from surgery April 30, which removed two cancerous tumors from her kidney and her left adrenal gland, where she had Cushing Syndrome. She is being treated at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis.

Raymond Glover of Raymond High School redid the trail from the 8th Street boat launch in Raymond, in completion of his Eagle Scout project last month. Since the beginning of Scouts in 1910, only 7 percent of all Scouts have achieved the Eagle rank.
The Castle Rock City Council is formally appealing a recent study by FEMA which found certain local properties are within flood hazard zones, requiring affected property owners to purchase flood insurance by next year.
Part of a regular update to the Cowlitz County Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM), a draft of proposed changes was first shared with officials and property owners during a March 26 open house hosted by FEMA in Kelso, and so far four property owners have reached out to City Hall to appeal what they see as inaccurate surveying techniques potentially harming their properties’ values.
The Winlock City Council has chosen to increase the salary of Mayor Lonnie J. Dowell in light of the time and effort he has spent on the job since his term began in January.
Increasing from $250 per month to $500 per month, an increase in salary was proposed May 27 by Council Member Sarah Gifford for what she noted have been near full-time hours put in by Dowell since taking office, particularly in the search of grants to help fund much-needed infrastructure repairs.

The Raymond boy’s track and field team grabbed first place at the 2B District IV Championships held at Raymond High School on May 22. South Bend girls edged out Willapa Valley for third.
Four local teenagers were arrested May 25 following vandalism at the Vader City Jail and Vader Assembly of God, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
Three boys and one girl, described as ages 14 to 16, were caught on camera around 10:30 p.m. May 24 kicking in the door of the jail, which is currently maintained as a historical site by the city, and later removing exterior cameras from the church, located across the street from the jail, before discarding them in nearby yards.
