Members of American Legion Post 101 and VFW Post 3429 lay a wreath and say a prayer at Toledo Cemetery Monday to honor fallen veterans as part of their regular Memorial Day services at area graveyards. Participants started that morning and held services in Napavine, Winlock, Vader and Toledo throughout the day, which included a 12-gun salute and Taps played live on a trumpet. Organizers said this tradition has been taking place at least since the 1960s and received a strong showing of support from residents in attendance.
Members of the Little Falls Masonic Lodge arrived for their regular meeting in military vestments in honor of Memorial Day, complete with medals and some even in full uniform. Pictured (from left to right) are Douglas Williams, a Navy veteran, William Butler, an Air Force veteran, Wayne Brown, a Marine Corps veteran, Dave Foskette, a Navy veteran, Manley Michler, a navy veteran, Andy Wilson, a Navy veteran, John Beck, an Army veteran, Clint Hash, a Navy veteran, and Lewis Zion, a Navy veteran. The masons are a community organization who seek to care for local children and the impoverished through regular fundraisers and charity events.
