Don’t let the name fool you. You don’t have to be a Lioness or a Lion to join the Lions Club Egg Days Committee.
There are no membership dues, no age limits, and you are not required to attend every meeting. All you have to do is want to become involved by putting some time and effort into an event that has been around since 1937.
It’s volunteers that make it all happen, folks. Not paid officials, but people like you and me. If you think you have some ideas or experience to offer this historical event, then consider coming to an upcoming meeting (held every second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Winlock Community Building at 607 NW Kerron Ave.). After all, it’s your Egg Days.
Our local festivals are being affected by these economic times along with everyone else; not as many buttons sold, not as many attendees, entertainment too expensive to employ. These festivals reflect our history, the reason our towns were built in the first place. It is imperative they continue for future generations to enjoy.
Sure, monetary donations help, but that’s not what we’re asking for. We know your time is precious but, if you have some to spare, think about volunteering.
This isn’t just about egg days, it’s about all our local festivals. If we don’t do what we can to keep them going, they will all just become a memory.
If you’d like to get involved with the Egg Days Committee, please come to our meetings or contact us by post (PO Box 543, Winlock, WA 98596), by email (officialeggday@gmail.com) or look for us on Facebook.
