Every year there the Winolequa Garden Club gives a scholarship to a local student who will be going on to higher education. This year was no different. They chose a student who desires to be a Veterinarian Technician and business. Alicia Clevenger is the recipient of this year's award.

Each year a student or a few apply for the scholarship, Alicia did this year. How did she hear about the scholarship? She stated, "I heard about the scholarship from my counselor Mrs. Olson."

Every student has a different reason for applying for the scholarship, Alicia stated, "I applied for the scholarship, because it looked interesting. I also applied for it in hopes it would help me get started with college." With a scholarship amount of $3500 it should help her along the way.

The committee has always chosen a student who wants to go into a field that is medicine, horticulture and other types of degrees. Alicia will be heading to college soon. She stated, "I want to go to college for both business and to be a Veterinarian Technician." Her college of choice is Centralia College.

Alicia was not at home when she received the news, she stated, "I was at a rabbit show when I found out that I won the scholarship. I was both shocked and full of excitement."

She is very happy she won the scholarship and suggests it for other students, she stated, "It is a great scholarship, and a great opportunity for students to be able to go to college." What a great opportunity for students in the Winlock area.

Shannon Clevenger, Alicia's mom is proud of her daughter, she stated, "Things for Alicia do not always come easy. School has never come easy for her, and she is a girl that has to work hard at whatever she does. I am super proud of her for going out of her comfort zone and applying for this scholarship and winning it. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for her."

It's a great scholarship as well. The Winolequa Garden club was very happy to give the scholarship to Alicia, they stated, "The Winolequa Garden Club is very happy to be able to award a scholarship to Alicia. Alicia has a clear education and career plan to be a Veterinary technician. She has worked hard to achieve much. We are very proud and honored to support her with this scholarship."
