Additional Positive COVID-19 Cases in Pacific County

On Monday, August 3, Pacific County Health and Human Services received notice of three positive cases of COVID-19 in Pacific County. These positive cases are in addition to the 40 previously reported cases for a total of 43 cases. All three of these cases are identified as close contacts of previously disclosed positive cases. All are south county residents between 60-79 years old and isolating at home.

On Wednesday, August 5, five more positive cases were announced. These positive cases are in addition to the 43 previously reported cases for a total of 48 cases. These cases are 40+ years old. All six of these cases were discovered in the south county area. Two of these cases will not count towards Pacific County since they are residents of a different county.

A sixth case was initially counted and reported as a new case. This individual was previously reported as a confirmed case in another state. This person retested in Pacific County and was falsely reported as a new case. In accordance with CDC guidelines, it was determined that this individual did not represent a new infection, but as an on-going infection.

As of Sunday, August 9 there are currently 14 active cases being monitored by public health nurses, 8 confirmed cases and six probable cases.

Pacific County Health and Human Services strongly encourages the public to limit non-essential travel, maintain social distancing of at least six feet between persons, and practice personal protective measures to include: correctly wearing a mask/face covering in public, washing hands often with soapy water for at least 20 seconds, and avoid touching your face.
