was brought to the Raymond General hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from wounds sustained from the accidental discharge of a shotgun. Mr. White went out hunting yesterday morning with the sons of Ed Eisele, of Holcomb, and was walking along in front of the boys, when one of them stumbled and fell, and his gun was discharged in the impact with the ground. The gun was loaded with number 5 shot, and the load took effect in Mr. White's back, 36 shot having been removed from his back, arms and legs at the hospital. His injuries, while painful, are not serious.

Farmer helps enforce law

County Game Warden Bullard received his first assistance this week from a citizen who is not an officer in the enforcement of the game law, and he is exceedingly grateful for it. Mr. James Cady found a man who had shot a Chinese Pheasant, and he at once took the offender in charge and marched him to Mr. Bullard, who made the necessary arrest, and a fine together with the costs soon followed.

Two arrested of drunk driving

Raymond police November 19, charged David Miller, 19, with negligent driving. Miller was fined $56 in Police Judge Robert Hannan's court. On November 21, police arrested Robert Nyland, 39, and charged him with drunk driving, operating a motor vehicle without due care and caution and of operating a vehicle without a valid operator's license. Nyland forfeited $249 in police court for an appearance.

Storm knocks out power in South Bend, Bay Center

Winter's first big storm knocked power out in the South Bend and Bay Center areas Monday night for a time. But the damage was not serious. PUD manager R.O. Adams said "we lost a jumper at the sub-station on Water Street in South Bend and Bay Center, and as soon as PUD crews located the damage, they had to shut off the power to the rest of South Bend while repairs were being made. The television cables were affected by the power shortage.

Strike settled at East Point Seafood

Sixty two union employees for East Point Seafood Company went back to work this week after ratifying a three year contract Saturday at the IWA Hall with a vote 30-17. Darrell Coffey, a spokesman for the collective bargaining department of the United Foods and Commercial Workers Union, Local 555, sad the terms of the new contract were set November 21 at a meeting in Seattle between labor and company representatives.

South Bend hopes to cash in on Goodwill

South Bend is expecting an influx of visitors hurrying through town during the 1990 Goodwill Games to contribute a projected $52,000 increase in court fines- the main factor in the city's much enlarged budget for next year.

The city council Monday saw the proposed $1.565 million 1990 budget. It is 18 percent or $213,000 larger than this year's 1.352 budget. It includes funding for an additional police officer for the summer months, said Police Chief Jerry Ashley.
