May 2 - May 20, 2016 - Mail-in declarations accepted. The declaration of candidacy form must be complete, the oath signed and any filing fee included. Filings submitted by mail will be retained for processing until May 16th, when filing opens for all candidates. Fillable Candidate Declaration forms are available on the Elections website at vote.wa.gov/lewis under Candidate Information tab on left. Complete the form, print, sign and enclose any filing fee before mailing.
May 16 - 20, 2016 - In person filing week. At 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16th in person filing begins in the Auditor's Office in the Historic Courthouse and ends at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20th.
May 16 - 20, 2016 - Online filing week. At 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16th online candidate filing begins. It ends at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20th. To file online, go to the Elections website and select Online Candidate Filing. Candidates who choose to file electronically may pay their filing fee online by credit card. There is no longer a filing fee for PCO candidates.
May 23, 2016 - Candidate withdrawals. A candidate wishing to withdraw must do so by Monday, May 23rd. Forms can be filed electronically, by mail or in person and must be received not later than 4:30 p.m., in the Elections Department of the Auditor's Office. The filing fee is not refundable. Withdrawal forms are available on the Elections website under Forms tab on the left or in the Auditor's Office.
May 25 - 27, 2016 - Three day special filing period. If no individual files for a specific office in Lewis County during the regular filing week of May 16-20, a special three-day filing will be conducted in the Auditor's Office during normal business hours. If no candidate files for an office during the special filing period, the office shall be lapsed, the office deemed stricken from the ballot, no purported write-in votes counted, and no candidate certified as elected.
Offices Open for Election and Candidates Who Have Filed - On the Elections website under Candidate Information select Offices Open for Election to see offices, incumbents and filing fees. After May 16th, select Candidates Who Have Filed to view up-to-date candidate filing.
